My style is open, practical and engaging. I strive to learn about your experience in the world, meet you wherever you are, and support you on your path to reduced suffering and a fulfilling life.
My journey to become a psychologist began in my teens when I worked as a counselor for children with autism. This early experience helped me see the world differently and sparked a passion for helping others.
My early work and graduate training was deeply rooted in neuroscience, neuropsychology, and cognition. As a consequence, I understand the biological systems and mechanisms that make up "the mind." I also understand the many different ways our minds and our bodies are part of one integrated system. This knowledge greatly expands my therapeutic toolset and allows me to optimize psychotherapy outcomes.
As a psychologist, I have undergone rigorous training in clinical work and research. This means that that a big part of my training was designing and implementing therapies and interventions. Not only do I use therapeutic methods backed by science, I understand the science behind the methods. This helps me select, modify, and blend together the active ingredients of different methodologies to fit your individual needs.
Prior to founding Bloom Psychology, I was the staff psychologist in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Kaiser San Francisco and the regional pain psychologist at the Center for Pelvic Pain.
My broad areas of specialty include women's mental health, including peripartum mood and anxiety disorders, pelvic pain, and aging.
